Cet épisode apporte plusieurs nouveautés :

• Un studio musical permettant de créer ses propres chansons. On peut les envoyer sur GHTunes pour que les autres joueurs en profite.
• 2 nouveaux instruments sont implémentés : la batterie et le micro. Ce qui les raméne au nombre de 4 (Basse, guitare, chant, batterie)
• Un mode “Battle Of The Bands” propose aux joueurs de s'affronter en ligne à 8 joueurs (séparés en deux groupes de quatre), chose impossible chez son concurrent Rock Band (série)
